Paddle outward to move the raft backward.

When the guide calls “Back,” participants paddle in the opposite direction to slow down or move the raft backward. Push the paddle outward through the water with controlled movements. Follow the guide’s timing carefully, as this command may be used when approaching obstacles, adjusting the raft's position, or preparing for a rapid.

03. STOP

Release the paddle and raise your hand.

When the guide calls “Stop,” immediately stop paddling and raise your hand as instructed. Keep your body balanced inside the raft and wait for the next command. This allows the guide to control the raft's movement and prepare the group for the next section of the river.

Participants on the left side paddle to move the raft right.

When the guide calls “Move Right,” participants sitting on the left side of the raft paddle as instructed to help move the raft toward the right. Keep your strokes coordinated with the rest of the group and follow the guide’s direction until the raft reaches the desired position.

05. MOVE LEFT

When the guide calls “Move Left,” participants sitting on the right side paddle to help move the raft toward the left. Use controlled strokes and follow the guide’s rhythm. This command helps the raft adjust its position when navigating the river and approaching different sections of the rapids.

06. BOOM

Get low, lift your paddle and hold on tight.

“Boom” is an important command used when the raft is approaching a strong rapid or a section where there may be a risk of losing balance.
